<Gion Festival>
The Gion Festival is a Kyoto seasonal tradition which takes place in Kyoto’s Higashiyama Ward.It is a Yasaka Shrine religious festival with over a thousand years of history. The festival begins July 1 and lasts the entire month. During this time various events occur such as the Yoiyama, the Yamahoko Junko, and the Mikoshi Togyo.
<Daimonji Gozan Great Bonfire>
The Daimonji Gozan Great Bonfire is a beacon fire which is lit every year on August 16 on Kyoto’s Nyoigatake peak, which is also called Daimonji-yama. In general, it is called the Daiomnji Great Bonfire .
<Nebuta Float Festival In Aomori>
The Nebuta Float Festival is a summer festival held from August 2 to August 7 in Aomori city, Aomori Prefecture. It attracts more than 3 million visitors every year. In 1980, it was designated an important intangible folk cultural asset.
<Wild Horse Chasing Festival In Soma>
The event heralds the Tohoku region’s summer festivals. The Shinto ritual and the festival are held together over the course of three days, on July 23, 24, and 25, and the festival is one of the Six Great Festivals of Tohoku.
<Lantern Festival in Akita>
Kantou is a festival that takes place in Akita City, Akita Prefecture every year from August 3 to August 6.
It's official name is the Lantern Festival in Akita. The lantern poles resemble ears of rice and the paper
lanterns strung along the poles resemble bales of rice. The lantern poles are balanced on participants’foreheads, lower backs and shoulders to pray for a successful harvest.
<Awa Folk Dance in Tokushima>
Awa foik dance is a bon dance that originated in Tokushima Prefecture. With a history stretching back about four hundred years, it is one of Japan’s Three Great Bon Dance festivals. The festival is held in various municipalities throughout Tokushima once summer arrives. Among the numerous festivals, the Tokushima City Awa folk dance is the nation’s largest and most famous, and is one of Shikoku Island’s Three Great Festivals.
